Learning Disabilities and ADHD

Some children have difficulties at school due to underlying problems with learning or attention. While all students have ups and downs in their school performance, various learning disabilities, and difficulties focusing attention (such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD) can make classroom learning much more challenging and frustrating.  This can lead to decreased self-esteem, depression, and anxiety for the student, and because of the importance of these developmental years, it is importnat to be mindful of the possible longer-term consequences.

Clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists are particularly well trained in assessing and distinguishing among the various learning and attentional disorders, and creating academic supports that can help the student better live up to his or her potential.
